PN junction |
A Sample of P type semiconductor and n type semi conductor are joined together then the device is known as junction. PN junction is also known as diode. P region is known as anode and n region is known as Cathode. n region has higher concentration of electrons and P region has higher concentration of holes.
Arrow indicates the direction of conventional current flow. Diode is a two terminal semi conductor device. It consists of anode and cathode which are two electrodes.
Generally PN junction diode working can be explained under three conditions
1. No-bias condition
2. Forward bias condition
3. Reverse bias condition
Let us learn about the working in next article.
